Programmable Keyboards with Fingerprint Reader Module

Biometric reading is becoming increasingly popular as a practical and secure alternative to passwords, PIN numbers and ID cards, that can be lost or stolen.

Access AKC compact programmable keyboards are available with integrated DigitalPersona ‘U.are.U’ biometric finger print reading modules. The finger print reading modules are designed for use with DigitalPersona developer software and the combination of the module with the DigitalPersona IDentity Engine produces an unmatched ability to recognise even the most difficult fingerprints reliably. Users can be enrolled so that any of their eight fingers and two thumbs can be used for log-on. The finger print data is stored as a binary number string, not as an image, so users’ identities are not put at risk.

To operate, the user simply places a finger on the reader window and the reader quickly and automatically captures and encrypts the fingerprint image before sending it to the DigitalPersona IDentity Engine for verification.

Access provides a configuration service to custom design keyboards with special key top layouts, colours, legends and customer logo printing. Full custom keyboard layouts are available to suit specific applications.

DigitalPersona Logo All AKC keyboards are constructed with high quality switches with rated life of over 50 million operations. Cool white and dark grey cases match industry standard peripherals.

Access IS supplied SoftProg32 Windows configuration software enables users to design their own configurations. Key positions can be programmed to have a single character or a string of characters. Adjacent keys may be combined to provide double or quad keys. Keys may also be disabled using a key switch lock-out cover. A keyboard pass-through port is fitted for system maintenance and programming.

Magnetic stripe readers (MSRs) are available on most models.
