Programmable Keyboards with Fingerprint Reader Module

Biometric reading is becoming increasingly popular as a practical and secure alternative to passwords, PIN numbers and ID cards, that can be lost or stolen.

Access AKC compact programmable keyboards are available with integrated DigitalPersona ‘U.are.U’ finger print reading modules, increasingly used to boost system security and prevent fraudulent use of terminals in everything from banking to retail outlets. The modules are designed for use with DigitalPersona developer software and the combination of the module with the DigitalPersona IDentity Engine produces an unmatched ability to recognise even the most difficult fingerprints.

To operate, the user simply places a finger on the illuminated reader window and the reader automatically captures and encrypts a 512 DPI resolution image before sending it to the DigitalPersona IDentity Engine for verification. Built-in intelligence rejects counterfeit and printed fingerprint images.

Access offers a configuration service to customise keyboards with special key top layouts, colours, legends and printed customer logos, increasing both the speed and accuracy of data input resulting in greater productivity. Full custom keyboard layouts are available to suit specific applications.

Access IS supplied SoftProg32 Windows configuration software enables users to design their own configurations. Key positions can be programmed to have a single character or a string of characters. Adjacent keys may be combined to provide double or quad keys. Keys may also be disabled using a key switch lock-out cover. A keyboard pass-through port is fitted for system maintenance and programming.

Magnetic stripe readers (MSRs) are available on most models.
