BGR with integrated manual MSR
Reading, UK, July, 2008 – Access IS announces the BGR130 boarding gate reader, an integrated 2D bar code imager and 4-track, manual magnetic swipe reader (MSR). The BGR130 is a cost-effective and compact solution where occasional ATB2 reading is needed in airports at which some passengers continue to travel using ATB2 boarding passes. The BGR130 eliminates the need to install a complex, motorised MSR for the few months before ATB2 travel documents are withdrawn completely.
The BGR130 is designed to read all airport 2D barcode symbologies from a PDA or mobile phone display, outperforming flatbed alternatives. The omni-directional bar code reader reads travel documents face-up making it quicker and easier for agents to operate, and speeding up the boarding process. In addition, reading the mobile device face-up minimises accidental dialling and makes it easy for the agent to confirm the backlight is on during the read. For paper-based documents, the large document throat easily accepts A4 documents.
For both types of boarding pass, a two-line user display, bright LED indicators and a programmable sounder provide operator feedback. Two ports at the back of the unit allow connection of options such as a receipt printer or keypad to facilitate seat assignment at the gate.
