Access launches printer for boarding pass revolution

Airport receipt printer

Reading, UK, April 2, 2008 – Access IS announces the RP9000, a simple, reliable and robust printer for rapid printing of receipts at airport boarding gates. It can be used to facilitate seat assignment for passengers boarding with 2D bar coded boarding passes on home-printed documents, mobile phones or PDAs, allowing seat changes to be made at the gate.

Additionally, as the implications of handling passengers travelling using bar coded boarding passes on their mobile devices continues to be explored, the RP9000 is being used by some airlines to issue boarding pass receipts for all passengers with mobile boarding passes, allowing their mobile phones to be switched off prior to boarding.

The compact printer measures just 140 x 208 x 152mm yet holds a 92-metre paper roll that can provide receipts for more than 1100 passengers, minimizing changes.

The printer can be used as a plug-and-play accessory to the Access BGR120M boarding gate reader and bar code imager, so it’s easy to install. It comes with a universal AC mains power supply and has an industry standard RS-232 interface to the host system. The printing speed is 220mm/s with a print resolution of 203dpi.

The RP9000 is safety approved to EN60950 and has CE, UL and TUV agency approvals.
