Banking keyboard reads cheques accurately in less
than one-second
This dedicated keyboard for bank tellers incorporates a high-reliability, motorised cheque reader that reads and captures cheque data in less than a second, with better than 99% success rate on the first pass. This optimises operator efficiency and the device reduces counter-top clutter by eliminating the need for a stand-alone cheque reader. Called the AKC127-C, it can be configured with integrated modules including a biometric fingerprint reader, an optical character reader (OCR), magnetic swipe reader (MSR) and USB hub.
The keyboard comes in US 104-key and 105-key versions and, in addition to the programmable Windows® keyboard keys, over 20 keys can be programmed for dedicated functions. Keycap colours and legends can be customised. Access’ SoftProg utility is used to program each key and create the data formatting of the MICR and MSR readers before the configuration is downloaded to the keyboard’s non-volatile memory during production. Once the keyboards are deployed, customers are able to use the SoftProg utility to programme changes through the life of the keyboards, as system and user requirements evolve.
The motorised mechanism is quiet, reliable and designed to be almost impossible to jam. A removable cover on the top of the keyboard provides easy access for the removal of debris such as paper clips and staples. The magnetic head and transport mechanism can be lifted out for maintenance or replacement at the workstation and without disassembling the whole device. The AKC127-C uses a proven mechanical design based around a steel sub-frame and uses key switches with a life of 50 million operations. The keyboard measures 385W x 223D x 60H mm, weighs 1.75kg and is available in cool white or dark grey versions.
