Reading, UK – May, 2021: Access-IS, part of HID Global, is excited to announce its involvement in another major mobile ticketing project in Sweden. Improved passenger flow, simple ticket validation and improved revenue protection are just some of the benefits being delivered to passengers and bus operators in Västra Götaland region.
In the Västra Götaland region, the Västtrafik To Go mobile ticketing app offers a wealth of advantages for passengers, but its benefits to operators are often overlooked. One prime example: it helps bus drivers who are contractually obliged to validate passenger tickets – to ensure that passengers travel on the correct ticket, to prevent abuse of concessionary tickets and reduce lost revenue.
Access-IS VAL050 Validator and DLU200 Touchscreen Driver Display onboard: over 1400 sets in Västra Götaland region already with more to follow soon. Passengers simply present their paper or electronic ticket, or mobile app such as Västtrafik To Go, to the validator and the driver is able to clearly see the ticket type and its validity – making ticket validation and boarding a simple, fast and efficient process, even when the vehicle is busy.
One of the key advantages of the Access solution is its compact, simple-to-install design, which makes it ideal for the variety of doorway widths found in a mixed fleet of vehicles, in multiple configurations and supplied by different manufacturers. Simply connected to the buses central computer system via an Ethernet connection, the installation process is simple and fast, saving operators time and money.
Cliff Hunter, Head of Sales for Access-IS said, ‘The move from traditional ticketing to mobile ticketing is a key driver of passenger experience, revenue protection and future-proofing. This mobile ticketing project in the Västra Götaland region, along with our recent projects in Stockholm, Uppsala, Gävleborg, Kronoberg, Kalmar, Halland and Jönköping represent a major leap forward for public transit ticketing and validation in Sweden.’
