Saving time, improving the customer experience and guaranteeing the quality of information have all been drivers of this change for Vodafone. Unlike other products on the market which require applications to be installed on each PC, Vodafone were delighted with the keyboard emulation functionality of the Access-IS device. This allowed it to work seamlessly (and with no additional integration) with their cloud based thin clients system.

The benefits delivered by the OCR316e for new Vodafone customers include; shorter waiting times, a faster account creation process and the elimination of the errors found when information is entered manually. For Vodafone, the streamlining of the process allows their staff to spend their time delivering high quality customer service.

The OCR316e is a compact and robust USB OCR reader designed to capture customer information quickly and reliably from a variety of sources for use in the KYC (Know Your Customer), age verification and check-in process. The track length and single slot design is optimised to ensure that passports and ID cards are correctly aligned for consistent and accurate reading. The OCR decoder has an advanced recognition engine that provides highly accurate and fast document reading.

The OCR316e bidirectional reader can read Machine Readable Passports (MRP), Visas (MRV), US and international resident permits as well as European and other national ID cards conforming to ICAO 9303 & ISO/IEC 7501-1 (2 and 3-line MRZ). It will also read the new ISO/IEC 18013-1 driving licences (1-line MRZ). Its three-track MSR allows it to read credit and debit cards, loyalty cards and frequent flyer cards as well as MRZ documents.

Erion Rapo, Client Infr. & Service Desk Sn. Engineer, Vodafone Albania Sh.A., commented, “This was the only keyboard emulating card reader which was practically useable for Vodafone.” He continued, “The installation of these devices has helped our store modernisation programme and delivered improvements to our new customer experience.”
